LORRAINE'S QUILTS

I always thought about making a quilt so decided that it's better
to begin than never at all!
February 2004 the task began and finished a king size with 49 different blocks February 2005.
Over 600 hours of looking for patterns, cutting pieces, sewing
and quilting. The quilt
was done on my lap without
a hoop of frame.

9/10/06 - Just posted my 6th quilt. Not bad for a beginner?

What a joy to see a piece of one's handwork come out so beautiful...
what do you think?

Granddaughter Chelsea's quilt finished for Christmas 2005.
Chelsea told me to make her quilt with hearts in purples
and write why I love her in the blocks. Simple!
The baby quilted below were done
for two new great nieces.

Granddaughter Delaney's quilt went quicker. She loves
pink and wanted hearts with her name and birthday on it.
Of course, some ballet print had to be included.
She received her quilt in March 2006.
My sister Theresa's long time friend from high school days, Adeline Aiken has been a quilter all her adult life. As you can see from this alphabet quilt, her work is just beautiful. A few years ago she gave me the pieced top telling me she had the beginning of Alzheimers and didn't know how to finish the quilt. I added the batting, backing and edge and finished hand quilting it on
Sunday, September 10, 2006. This one I will send back to Theresa for her great-grandson's future children.

This four block table top sampler was my first try at quilting. Then I proceeded with the king size and 6 quilts later is what you are viewing here! ...and a pillow to match.
Every Labor Day weekend, our Parish has a picnic serving the most delicious food you ever tasted. They include a carnival and quilt wheel with 40 handmade quilts raffled for 350 tickets for $2 a each. You have a difficult time getting to the tickets because everyone wants them.     Parish women donate the quilt tops and usually join as a group to quilt them. I decided I'd try my hand at doing a 'Memory Scrap Quilt' for the quilt wheel for the first time. Memory because the fabric brings back memories of the quilts you've made. Many pieces are from the above quilts. I think is especially pretty.
Here's another one I
put together for the Church picnic called 'Snowball'.
fall table topper.

What! Yes, I crocheted this when I had no quilting ready. I can't watch TV with nothing in my hands!!!
